Europe is one of the continents that make up the Eurasian supercontinent, located between parallels 35º 30 ‘and 70º 30’ north latitude. In a conventional way and for historical-cultural reasons it is considered a continent, after the delimitation made by the Russian geographer Vasili Tatischev who wished to point out the belonging of Russia to Europe and Asia. The borders of Europe and its population are subject to controversy, since the term continent can refer to a cultural and political good or to physiographic distinctions. Andreas Kaplan describes Europe as a maximum cultural diversity in a minimum geographical area.
